Cacao‑to‑Chocolate Educational Workshops & Learning Activities

Lab Cocoa’s educational chocolate activities introduce young people to the real journey from cacao to chocolate through fun, hands‑on learning. Each workshop blends chocolate‑making with curriculum‑linked topics in History, Science, Geography, Maths, English, Art, and PSHE, helping students explore culture, trade, plant biology, and the science behind chocolate production.

Our workshops are available in‑studio, in schools and organisations, or delivered virtually, making chocolate education accessible to learners everywhere.

Lab Cocoa Studio Workshops
(Small Groups & Home‑Educated Learners)

Our studio‑based educational workshops offer an immersive, hands‑on cacao‑to‑chocolate experience in the heart of Lab Cocoa. Designed for small groups, home‑educated learners, and students who benefit from a quieter environment, these sessions can be delivered as a single workshop or over multiple one‑hour lessons.

Workshops are adapted to suit age and ability while covering key curriculum areas. Students explore:

  • Learn: How cacao is processed into chocolate, examine raw cacao, and see freshly made chocolate.

  • Taste: Sample four different chocolates using sensory skills — smell, taste, compare, and discuss.

  • Create: Make chocolate moulds, use edible paints, and design a chocolate creation to take home.

These sessions are perfect for learners who thrive in small groups, enjoy hands‑on activities.

Workshops included  hand outs, visual aids, and chocolate samples to taste.

Cost from  £9.00 - £22.50  per person

Trace’s session accompanied and added value to our geography unit of learning which was based around Fairtrade chocolate. It was amazing to observe the way in which Trace made our in class learning come to light, which made our learning more insightful.

The children learned about the origins of chocolate; where it comes from, how it gets to our country, how it’s made. This added a deeper sense of understanding for our children as we were able to trace the chocolate’s journey from origin to shelf. This allowed the learning to be more relatable to the children and they could much easily envisage the journey. - NORTH SOMERCOTES Cof E SCHOOL
